AVO is the best resource when it comes to processing of meat and meat products, fish, deli, convenience foods, baked goods and dairy products. For manufacturers of pasta, potato and vegetable products, soups and sauces, we can also offer a wide range of premium spices and additives.

 

Of course, processing exclusive spice mixes is no problem for AVO. Our on-location field representatives, experts from contracted technology institutes and from our lab and our experimental kitchen are prepared to assist you in working out your individual needs and requirements.

Only careful processing methods prevent the spices from flavour loss. The FRIOFRESH Process guarantees an optimal grinding of our raw spices. This process takes place under cooling to reduce the volatilisation of essential oils and valuable substances to a minimum.

The patented COATING Process, the encapsulation of fruit acids, enables us to produce cutter processing aid combinations with "AVO´s freshness pearls". These fresh-keeping pearls help to maintain the long-term freshness of fried sausages and cooked sausages.

Our liquid spices and flavourings are produced in modern facilities within a closed production process. Thus, we achieve a extremely high standard of hygiene.

History

Almost 150 years ago, visionary AVO founder and name sake August Vodegel demonstrated that good taste can be successfully combined with good business savvy. The spice mixtures and curing agents that he created would soon enjoy such a great reputation, extending far beyond his own butcher business, that selling those products to colleagues and industry suppliers was not long in coming.

In 1921, the production and distribution of seasonings and functional ingredients was assigned to the then newly founded company August Vodegel Osnabrück, a name which was rapidly converted to AVO as a more readily recognized and more easily remembered company brand. After the founder's death, senior partner August Beisse took over the helm, and despite adverse conditions of the times, held the company on a steady course to continued success -- a course which, has continued to this day.

"Fast food" is in demand now more than ever. Snacks and "Finger Food" are still on the rise. In the modern catering business, the snack bar and the hot bar are frequently requested. Creativity, variation and new ideas are the essential elements for long-term customer loyalty. 
Seize this opportunity to profit from the technical expertise of our recognized and accomplished speakers. We offer sessions for butchers, butcher women, and managers. These seminars can optionally be held on-site at AVO's company-owned training center. Length may vary between an evening, one day, or three days.

 

We are a dynamic medium-sized company in the spice industry with headquaters in Belm near Osnabrück (Lower Saxony, Germany). In total, we have approximately 550 employees. Of the 70 field associates, approximately one third act exclusively as technical consultants, providing expert advice for traditional butchers and meat departments of the retailers. In the administrative office, sales department, lab and product development, a dedicated team of 105 person are employed.

AVO provides training in commercial professions, e.g., "industrial sales", and offers special on-the-job trainings for food technologists. Students who would like to serve an internship at AVO are always welcome.
